Jane H. Lowry, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born June 27, 1930, in Trimble County, Kentucky, the daughter of Victor Clare and Martha Jane (Morgan) Harmon. She married Robert Hamilton Lowry on July 9, 1963, and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1991.
Survivors include her son, David K. Lowry of Indianapolis; daughter, Susan E. Lowry of Indianapolis; and many other family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Geraldine Patterson and Margaret Mann; and brothers, Doug Harmon, Otis Harmon, Perry “Bud” Harmon, John Harmon and Jack Harmon.
Jane graduated from Trimble County High School in 1949.
She was a member of The Little Blue River Baptist Church, where she was formerly active in Ladies Aide. She was also a member of member of Home Extension and St. Joe’s Social Club.
Jane was a devoted and exceptional homemaker with an entrepreneurial spirit. She formerly sold Avon, spices and seasonings for Marion Kay, her homemade treats at various craft shows and fairs; and worked at the former Ruth Ann’s Hallmark Store.
She was also a volunteer at Major Hospital and Johnson County Memorial Hospital in their gift shops.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at the funeral home, with Rev. Bob Langdon officiating.
Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Pisgah Cemetery in Jefferson County, Indiana.
