Janet Ann Lawson Cole, 79, of Sellersburg, formerly of Manilla, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at River Crossing Assisted Living in Charlestown, Indiana.
Born May 12, 1933 in Rush County, she was the daughter of Wilbur C. and Flora "Fern" (Kuhn) Marshall. She married Ralph "Scurb" Lawson, and he preceded her in death. On December 1, 1968 she married Ned Cole, and he survives.
Other survivors include her son, Mark (wife, Veronia) Lawson of Charlestown; step-son, Terry Cole of Rushville; brother, Richard K. (wife, Kathryn) Marshall of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Josh (wife, Melodie) Lawson, Tyler (wife, Tabbi) Cole and Tara Cole; great-grandchildren, Zachary Lawson, Arianna Lawson, Alexis Cole, Isabella Cole and Madeline; and nieces, Sheila (husband, Terry Curry) Marshall, Sharon Marshall and Susan (husband, Dr. Mike) Lee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Cole had resided in Sellersburg since 2008, prior to living in Columbus for 14 years, she was born and raised in Manilla (Rush County).
She was formerly the secretary for Rushville Elementary and High Schools, and later for Randy Deer. She retired in 1998.
Mrs. Cole was a member of Zion United Church of Christ.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1951.
Mrs. Cole enjoyed golfing and counted cross stitch.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery, 7025 East 100 North, Shelbyville, with Rev. Dennis Frische-Mouri officiating.
Interment will be in Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery.
