Janet C. Justus, 86, of Flat Rock, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis after a brief illness.
Born July 9, 1925, in Hancock County, she was the daughter of John Coffin and Clarice Mae (Wilhelm) Coffin. She married Jesse Eugene "Gene" Justus on March 27, 1943, and he preceded her in death on September 3, 2000.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathy (husband, Steve) Bastin of Bloomington, Rebecca Barnett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Carol Justus of Flat Rock; sons, Steve (wife, Linda) Justus of Lawrenceburg and Brian Justus of Shelbyville; sister, Doris Hamilton of North Vernon; grandchildren, Brad Talbert, Shelley Talbert, Deena Williamson, Jody Woods, Aspen Couch, Jesse Justus, Derek Barnett, Kane Justus, Breonna Justus and Tyrel Justus; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Coffin, Maurice Coffin, Bob Coffin and Ron Coffin; sister, Bea Johnson and granddaughter, Dara Lynn Justus.
Mrs. Justus graduated from Arlington High School in 1943 and last attended Fountaintown Methodist Church.
She retired from Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent in 1984, after 26 years of service.
Mrs. Justus was dedicated to her family and enjoyed crafts, including making applehead dolls, quilting, gardening and painting.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date.
