Janet Irene Roberts

Janet Irene Roberts, 72, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. She was born September 21, 1944, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Wallace J. and Lucille P. (Wissing) Linville. On August 12, 1967, she married David L. Roberts, and he survives. Janet is also survived by her sons, Eric L. Roberts and wife, Monica, and Brian L. Roberts and wife, Tina, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Grant Roberts, Brock Roberts, Kelli Roberts, Troy Dunkleberger and Ema Dunkleberger. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Larry Wade Linville. Janet graduated from Morristown High School in 1962, and attended University of Indianapolis. She was a member of Little Blue River Baptist Church. She held several different offices, was assistant piano player and a member of the Ladies Aid group at the church. Janet was a banker at Farmers National Bank for over 25 years, retiring in 1987. She was formerly a member of a home economics club and was an excellent seamstress. Janet also served as treasurer for Red Cross. In 2009, she was proud to revive the family farm. Janet devoted her life to her boys and grandchildren. Janet wanted to thank all the people she couldn’t thank, by saying a “Special Thank You” to all the angels who have prayed for her during her time of need and to Dr. Cole and the girls at Benesse. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
