Janet Kay Adkins, 70, of Fairland passed away Monday, March 22, 2021, at her home.
She was born December 12, 1950, in Sidney, Nebraska, the daughter of Eugene and Norma (Vincent) Dobbins. On June 7, 1967, she married her husband of 53 years, Walker Adkins, and he survives.
In addition to Walker, Janet is survived by her son, Brian Adkins and wife, Gracia, of Shelbyville; daughter, Lori Gregory and husband, Rick, of Shelbyville, sisters, Judy Fuller and husband, Tim, of Shelbyville, Mary Gerrian and husband, Dale, of St. Paul and Charlene Turpin and husband, David of Shirley; brothers, Thomas Dobbins of Shelbyville and Kevin Dobbins of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Laura Owens and husband, Kenneth, Travis Gregory, Madisson Adkins and McKenzie Adkins; and great-grandchildren, Mackensie Owens, Brianna Owens, Brylee Owens and Kaylee Owens; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Carter of Florida, Rita James of Franklin, Sammy Adkins of Florida, Beatrice Banta of Franklin, Barbara Hart of Franklin, Helena Gibbs and husband, Jerry, of Franklin, David Harris of Bargersville, and Cindy Harris of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce Case; and step-mother, Donna Dobbins.
Janet graduated from Shelbyville High School.
She retired in 2011, from NAS Corp, where she had been employed for 11 years.
Janet enjoyed reading the Bible and working crossword puzzles.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.
