Janice Marilyn Mollenkopf, 83, of Shelbyville died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at her home.
Born Sept. 25, 1926, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Lloyd Franklin and Mary Gladys (Mosier) Phares. She married Elmer Leroy Mollenkopf on Dec. 20, 1946, and he preceded her in death on June 12, 2006.
Survivors include her daughter, Diana Karen (husband, Paul ?Squeak?) Merritt of Shelbyville; sons, Dr. Dana Alan (wife, Elaine) Mollenkopf of Richmond and Darrell Lee (wife, Patricia) Mollenkopf of Shelbyville; sister, Doris Mavern (husband, Jack) Klingeberger of Crown Point; brothers, John Albert (wife, Anna Mae) Phares of Hickory, N.C., and Larry Keith (wife, Marla) Phares of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Mary Nell (husband, Doug) Ogden, Jeffrey Allen (wife, Liz) Sosbe, Jacob Reese Mollenkopf, Rachel Leigh Mollenkopf, Sara Lynn (husband, Kirby) Goedde, Kimberly Ann (husband, Chris) Garner and Ryan Lee (wife, Lisa) Mollenkopf; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Wayne Phares and Harold Lloyd Phares Jr.; and sisters, Mary Evelyn Phares and Melba LuAn Phares; and stepmother, Dorothy Jean Phares.
Mrs. Mollenkopf was a secretary at Monte Glove Co. from 1966 to 1969 and also worked at F.W. Woolworth.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Loyal Leaders Sunday school class, Disables American Veterans Auxiliary, AARP and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor David Love officiating.
Interment will be in Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County.
