Jean Branson, 93, Manilla, died October 22, 2010, in W.S. Major Hospital, Shelbyville. Mrs. Branson was born March 23, 1917, in rural Rush County, the daughter of the late Bern and Fannie (Pattison) Percell.
Mrs. Branson graduated from Manilla High School in 1936. She was a clerk for 20 years at G.C. Murphy in Shelbyville. In addition, she was co-owner of Branson's DX Service Station for many years in Manilla. Mrs. Branson was a member of the Blue Ridge Christian Union Church and was formerly involved with their Women?s Aid Society. Perhaps most noteworthy was her love and talent for quilting and crafting.
Mrs. Branson was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Carlos L. Branson; brothers, William "Junior" Percell and Payton Percell; sister, Kathryn Kuhn; grandson, Jay Scott Lambert; son-in-law, James Lambert.
Survivors include her sons, Max Branson (Marty) of Shelbyville and Bill Branson (Joyce) of Nashville; daughter, Shirley Lambert of Deltona, Florida; grandchildren, Julie Barger, Mark Branson, Doug Branson, Jeff Branson, and Chris Branson; Leslie Lambert and Kelly Lambert; Sean Branson and Nick Branson; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in the Freeman Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 2010.
Burial will follow the service at the Manilla Cemetery.
Rev. Dennis Hirshire will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Christian Union Church.
