Jean H. Norris, 85, of Shelbyville passed away, Monday, November 26, 2007, at Major Hospital.
Born December 9, 1922, in Weston, Miss., he was the son of John A. and Alice (Harber) Norris. He was married to Virginia D. (Pittman) Norris for 63 years and she survives.
Other suvivors include his sons, Lonnie D. Bell and Eric C. Norris, both of Florida; daughter, Marilynn (husband, Ward "Butch") Hughes; sister, Joyce York of Florida; grandchildren, Scott (wife, Cindi) Hughes and Honda May, both of Indianapolis, Andy (husband, Jean) Hughes of Fishers, Kris (wife, Thrisha) Hughes of Franklin, Jaison (wife, Crystal) Norris of Saudi Arabia, Chad Norris of Louisiana, Londa Adkins of Arkansas, Shawn Bell and Dawn Boone, both of Tennessee, Machelle Lutrell and Patrick Bell, both of Missouri, Allen Norris and Darlyn Norris, both of Wisconsin; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Norris had been a mechanic, working in Indianapolis for 33 years and in Kentucky, where he was self-employed in the same field.
He and his wife built several of their homes.
Mr. Norris was a National 500 in archery. He was a great fan of ham and CB radios. He loved animals and could train even wild ones to come up to him. He also loved fishing, horseshoes, mowing grass, playing cards and his grandchildren.
He was a member of Sugar Creek Masonic Lodge #279, where he was a Past Master.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Emtombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
