Jean Louise Rees, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
She was born March 16, 1925, in Bessemer, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William Paul and Zelma (Young) Hovis. On December 22, 1949, she married James A. Rees, Jr., and he preceded her in death on October 6, 1973.
Jean is survived by her son, James C. Rees and wife, Marcy, of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Erin Clayton and husband, Josh, Adam Rees, and Lauren Glasco and husband, Eric; and great-grandsons, Henry Clayton and Grant Clayton.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Jean graduated from Bessemer High School in 1943.
She was a member of First Christian Church, where she volunteered in the office.
Jean formerly worked at James A. Rees Chiropractic Office with her husband until 1973.
She was a retirement specialist at Naval Avionics, retiring in 1990. After retirement she work at Sanders Jewelry Store, for the City of Shelbyville, and managed Westar Mobile Home Park.
She enjoyed knitting and loved to socialize with her friends and watch football.
A gathering of friends will be from 10 to 11:30 am, Saturday, February 20, 2016 at First Christian Church, 118 W. Washington in Shelbyville.
A memorial services will be at 11:30 am, Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Bill Horner and Nathan Wilson officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Garden in Indianapolis.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
