Jeanette J. Wheeler, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born December 25, 1919, in Lee County, Virginia, she was the daughter of James Robert and America M. (Stapleton) Harber. She married her husband of 62 years, William R. Wheeler on March 26, 1938, and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2000.
Survivors include sons, Billy Joe (wife, Berniece) Wheeler of Gallatin, Tennessee, Jack R. Wheeler and Danny R. Wheeler, both of Shelbyville; daughter, Barbara Anna (husband, Terrell) Bramwell-Thompson of Mesa, Arizona; sister, Georgeanna West of Havre, Montana; brother, Bob Harber of Knoxville, Tennessee; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Cuma Hays, Stella Myers, Nancy Byrd, Alberta Thompson, Ruth McMichael and Evalena Harber; brothers, Tunis Harber and Dennis Harber.
Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Adamant Baptist Church in Pennington Gap, Virginia.
She was formerly a production clerk at Admiral-Rockwell Corporation and a group leader at Overhead Door, retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Wheeler enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking and gardening. She and her husband spent a few winters in Arizona.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with her nephew, Rev. Marc Hays officiating.
Interment will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington.
