Jeffrey Daniel “Jeff” Smaglinski, 42, of Gwynneville, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at his residence. He was born September 3, 1972, in Bad Axe, Michigan, the son of Gerald and Barbara (Casey) Smaglinski. Jeff is survived by his father of Shelbyville; daughter, Caitlynn Smaglinski of Indianapolis; son, Nicholas Smaglinski of Indianapolis; sisters, Julie Wilhelm and Jill Fannin and significant other, Josh Murphy, both of Shelbyville; and grandmother, Marion Smaglinski of Bad Axe. He was preceded in death by his mother; maternal grandfather, James Casey; maternal grandmother, Joyce Casey; and paternal grandfather, Frank Smaglinski. Jeff graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1990 and received an Associate’s degree in in accounting. He has worked at Kroger for 21 years, in various positions. Jeff was a member of the Sons of the Legion in Morristown and Fountaintown Community Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his children, volunteering at the fire department and going to the Legion. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jeffrey Smaglinski Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
