Jerry Allen Smith

Jerry Allen Smith, 60, of Fairland, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at IU Health in Lafayette. He was born January 28, 1953, in Beech Grove, the son of Harold Lloyd and Jennie Lee (Wright) Smith. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Shea (husband, John) Reisinger of Carmel; son, Jed (wife, Heather) Smith of Morristown; sister, Debby Crafton of Shelbyville; brother, Carl Smith of Fairland; grandchildren, Allison, Lucas, Alexander, Tristen and Sam; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry graduated from Triton Central High School in 1971. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during Vietnam. Jerry retired from construction work in 2002. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching basketball and football. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.
