Jerry D. Shaw, 72, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, at his residence.
He was born January 16, 1943, in Tailholt, now known as, Finley. Jerry is the son of Charles and Eva C. (Dick) Shaw. On September 17, 1991 he married, Vera Nancy Howell-Shaw, and she preceded him in death on November 28, 2013.
Jerry is survived by his mother of Shelbyville; son, Justin (Amy Judah) Shaw, of Greenfield; daughter, Eva Turner and husband, Gary, of Morristown; step-children, Rhonda Fansler, Donald Howell and Brenda Short and husband, Brian; four sisters; two brothers; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Jerry was also preceded in death by his father and son-in-law, Jon Fansler.
Jerry was a 1961 graduate of New Palestine High School.
Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany, while serving in the Vietnam War.
Jerry worked at Harvester, as a millright and journeyman. Later he, owned Shaw Tree Service, from which he retired.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW; and a past member of the American Legion and the Forty & Eight. He was also a member of DeMolay.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel 124 East North St., Morristown.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Kenny Grimes officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the local military committee.
