Jerry E. Plymate, 81, of Shelbyville, passed away, Monday, January 12, 2015 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
He was born September 30, 1933, in Shelbyville, the son of Glenn and Edith Plymate.
Jerry is survived by his nephew, Todd Plymate and wife, Elizabeth, of Shelbyville; nieces, Terri Plymate Warnecke and husband, Brad, of Indianapolis and Tracy Plymate Holt and husband, Bill, of Zionsville; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; and many caring friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Plymate; step-brother, Skip Karmire and sister-in-law, Janet Plymate.
Jerry graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1952.
He was a service representative for Plymate Inc. from 1953 to 1993.
Jerry was a member of the Shelbyville Masonic Lodge No. 28 and Indiana Association of Fairs and Festivals.
He was very supportive of his brother, Jim, and was the team manager for the 1952 Boy’s Golden Bear basketball team that went to the Sweet 16.
Jerry loved the Shelby County Fairgrounds and was given a lifetime pass to the fair. He enjoyed all of the activities leading up to and throughout the fair.
A gathering of friends will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.
