Jewel Anne Phares-Maguire, 76, of Indianapolis, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at The Waters in Indianapolis.
Born February 19, 1936, in Terre Haute, Indiana, she was the daughter of Charles and Amanda (Willms) Robbins. She married George W. Phares, Sr. on May 12, 1958, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 1970. She then married Robert Maguire, Jr., on September 24, 1986, and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1995.
Survivors include her sons, Charles B. (wife, Teresa) Phares of Clinton, Missouri, George W. (wife, Corinna) Phares, Jr. and Todd A. Phares, Sr., both of Shelbyviile; daughters, Pamela K. McGee of Indianapolis and Tricia L. (husband, Philip) Fowler of Monrovia; sisters, Christina (husband, Jack) Horn of Idaho and Rebekah Kneal of Illinois; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Esther Robbins; and two grandchildren, Tara Phares and Ethan Fowler.
Jewel was a secretary-clerk typist at the Salvation Army for 11 years and at the Indiana National Guard for 10 years.
She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
Jewel enjoyed reading and watching television. She played the piano, accordion and organ.
Graveside services and Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012, with Rev. Ray McCrary officiating.
