JoAnn May Bateman, 84, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Ambassador Health in Centerville.
She was born May 22, 1931, in Indianapolis, the daughter of James N. Sr. and Margaret C. (Grannemann) Bateman.
JoAnn is survived by her nieces, Elaine A. Wilhelm and husband, Jerry, of Morristown and Donna L. Reed and husband, Randy, of Arlington; nephew, James H. Bateman and wife, Renata, of Schaumburg, Illinois; sister-in-law, Jeannine B. Bateman of Morristown; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, James N. Bateman, Jr.
JoAnn graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in 1949.
She was a member of Morristown Christian Church, Morristown Order of Eastern Star Lodge No. 316 and Morristown American Legion Auxiliary No. 102.
JoAnn retired from Western Electric in 1985, with 31 years of service. After retirement, she worked from 1986 to 1995 for American Legion National Headquarters; and from 1996 to 1998 at Flanner and Buchanan Mortuary.
She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, going to the casino boats and traveling.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown, with an Eastern Star service at 12:45 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, with Pastor Michael Harroll officiating.
Interment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
