Joanne R. Leppert, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at her residence.
She was born November 27, 1935, in Decatur County, the daughter of Bernard and Frances (Ricke) Meyer. On November 22, 1957, she married her husband of 56 years, Ralph C. Leppert, and he survives.
Other survivors include her daughter, Denise “DeDe” Watler and husband, Danny, of Greensburg; son, Scott Leppert and wife, Kim, of Fishers; sister, Kathryn Schoettmer and husband, Robert, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Chris Watler, Dana Watler, Riley Leppert and Finley Leppert.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Joanne graduated from Greensburg High School in 1954.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Rose of Lima Circle No. 79 Daughters of Isabella and St. Anne’s Altar Society.
Joanne was an excellent bookkeeper and formerly worked for Ben Jones Dodge Dealership in Greensburg. Joanne also worked with her husband at Shelby Loan Company and Ralph Leppert Rental Company for several years.
She participated in a bowling league at Blue River Lanes and golfed in the Tuesday morning ladies league. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed playing bridge and shopping.
Joanne loved her children and grandchildren and the time she spent with them.
She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Jewel.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., Shelbyville, Indiana, with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
