John A. Westerfield

John A. Westerfield, 79, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. He was born March 25, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, the son of William Reid and Bertha (Kussman) Westerfield. John is survived by his sister, Gretchen Turner and husband Donald R., of Shelbyville; nieces, Lori Anne Turner of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Erin R. Noel and husband, Justin, of Carmel; and a grand-niece whom he adored, Harper T. Noel. He was preceded in death by his parents. John graduated from Shelbyville High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving four years active duty and two years in the reserves. John was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He formerly worked as a printer at Williams Industries, retiring in February of 2006, with 29 years of service. John loved photography and reading. He enjoyed socializing with his family and friends. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, at Forest Hill Cemetery, 704 Morris Avenue in Shelbyville, with John Begley officiating. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelbyville-Shelby County Public Library, 57 W. Broadway St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176 or donor’s choice of charity.
