John Alan Kroening, 40, of Franklin died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at his home.
Born Aug. 6, 1968, in Shelbyville, he was the son of John and Charlotte Ann (Achors) Kroening. He married Tina Lynn Baker, and she survives.
Other survivors include his parents of Greensburg, daughter, Chelsey M. Kroening of Franklin; son, Jacob T. Kroening of Chesterfield, Va.; stepson, Craig A. Schlichte of Connersville; grandmother, Mildred (husband, Lowell) Childers of Bloomfield; father-in-law, Lyle (wife, Janet)Baker of Stilesville; two nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Florene Kroening and Joseph Achors; and mother-in-law, Arletta Gail Koopman.
Mr. Kroening had been employed in construction and served for 17 years on the Fairland Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed the outdoors including horseback riding, boating, camping and hiking.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carmony-Ewing Chapel of Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Johnny Shoffner officiating.
