John Fredrick Kessler, 85, of Manilla passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, at his home.
Born August 14, 1923, in Rush County, he was the son of Frank and Laura Jane (Shaw) Kessler.
Survivors include his son, Gerald F. (wife, Veanna) Kessler of Manilla; daughter, Carolyn A. Willey of Columbus; sister, Marcella Farlow of Milroy; grandchildren, Brandon (wife, Leigh) Kessler and Chrissy (husband, Chuck) Tabeling, both of Shelbyville, and Brian (wife, Natalie) Willey of Tomball, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Kessler, Grant Kessler, Katie Tabeling, Becca Tabeling and RJ Wiley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Kessler attended Manilla Christian Church and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion.
His love was of the land and his animals.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Carmony-Ewing Chapel of Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Gwen Pew officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Manilla Cemetery in Manilla, with Pastor Pew officiating.
