John Keith Williams, 71, of Shelby County, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at his home.
He was born December 25, 1945, in Indianapolis, the son of Marcellus W. and Georgia E. (Sandefur) Williams.
John is survived by several cousins including, Tom Debaun and wife, Milly, of Waldron, Tim Debaun and wife, Jennifer, of Fishers; close friends, David and Gail Brown and sons, Matt and Mike, all of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Vietnam.
He was a member of Second Mount Pleasant Church in Johnson County.
John managed his own farm, served in the Shelby County Clerk’s office and on the board of Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
He was formerly the vice president of Marietta Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the Shelby County Republican Club, served on the Hendricks Township Advisory Board and Shelby County Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
John was a volunteer at WFYI Channel 20 TV station.
Military graveside services at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Johnson County, with the Rev. Dr. Dan McCollough officiating.
