John P. Banawitz, 66, of Greenfield, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at Sugar Creek Nursing Home in Greenfield.
He was born October 3, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Philip H. and Natalie Lyman (Pfaff) Banawitz.
John is survived by his sister, Stephanie B. Rick of Shelbyville; twin brother, Jeffery Banawitz and wife, Karen, of Atlanta, Georgia; niece, Renee’ Yantiss and husband, Jason; and nephew, Mark Philip Rick and wife, Rachael.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1966.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
John was formerly a real estate appraiser.
He was a former member of the Eagles Aerie Lodge #766 and American Legion.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, 124 W. Broadway in Shelbyville, with Rev. Mark Morningstar officiating. Friends may gather one half hour prior to the service.
Services will be announced by Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
