John Richard Kimbrell

John Richard Kimbrell, 62, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville. He was born February 13, 1956, in Shelbyville, the son of Richard and Ruth (Webster) Kimbrell. John is survived by his son, Dylan Kimbrell of Shelbyville; fiancé, Jean Foley of Shelbyville; sister, Patti Bogemann and husband, Mike, of Shelbyville; brother, Steve Kimbrell of Elkins, West Virginia; granddaughters, Savannah Kimbrell and Scarlett Kimbrell; nieces, Amber Prichard and husband, Craig, April Clark and Julianna Kimbrell; nephews, Cyrus Kimbrell and Owen Kimbrell; great-nephews, Nathaniel Prichard and Nicholas Prichard. He was preceded in death by his parents. John graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1974. He was a U.S. Army veteran. John was a software engineer for Baker Hughes in Houston, Texas for over 25 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 70. John enjoyed bass fishing, golfing, hiking and hunting. He also leaves behind his dog, Coal. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, November 16, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contribution may be made to the Cancer Association of Shelby County, PO Box 844, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
