John Thomas "JT" Young, 85, of Houma, La. died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006.
Born July 14, 1921, in Shelbyville, he was the son of John Stephen and Katheryn Hester (Winkles) Young. He married Naomi Julia Weintraut on Nov. 2, 1941, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Jenny (husband, Bill) Harrison of Tupelo, Miss., and Kate (husband, Charles) Love of Houma; one sister, Betty Kelley of Kalamazoo, Mich.; five grandchildren, Chris Love, Julie Travillo, Liza Teuton, Samantha Harrison and Thomas Harrison; and one great-grandchild, J.T. Teuton.
He also was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Thomas was a former Shelbyville resident.
He was a retired owner and C.E.O. of Monte Glove Co., Young Oil Co. and Supra Fuel.
Mr. Thomas was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Street Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Forest Hill Cemetery.
