Joseph David “Joe” Wesolowski, 51, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 in Delaware County.
He was born August 22, 1961, in Muncie, the son of Anthony Jr. and Genevieve (Piotrowicz) Wesolowski. He married his loving wife, Barbara Benkeser on November 26, 1988, and she survives.
Other survivors include his parents of Eaton; devoted daughter, Katherine “Katie” Wesolowski of Columbus; sisters, Rose Marie (husband, Anthony) Slack of Woodward, Iowa, Teresa (husband, Kent) Hoover of Anderson, Karen (husband, Jeff) Gill of Fountaintown, Patricia (husband, Rick) Elwell of Bluffton; brother, Doug (wife, Barbara) Wesolowski of Springport; mother-in-law, Sandra (husband, Ron) Mixell of Muncie; sisters-in-law, Francesca Heminger of Noblesville and Kristina Chiprean of Butler, Pennsylvania; and several nieces nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Denise Wesolowski; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Barbara Piotrowicz; paternal grandparents, Anthony Sr. and Rose Wesolowski; and father-in-law, Karl Benkeser.
Joe graduated from Blackford High School in Hartford City in 1979 and Ball State University in 1983 with a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Design.
He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus. He had a servant heart, and would do anything for anyone.
Joe had been employed at Indiana Precision Forge in Shelbyville for 10 years.
He enjoyed mowing grass, farming, playing volleyball and basketball and visiting with family and friends at the family cottage in Hesperia, Michigan.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 pm, Friday, August 16, 2013 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 1306 27th St., in Columbus, Indiana. Visitors from 1 to 3:30 pm—Please park at the North Christian Church parking lot.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 4 pm, at the church, with Father Clem Davis and Father Doug Marcotte officiating.
Interment will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 17, 2013.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
