Eric Joshua “Josh” Swift, 39, of Edinburgh, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at his residence.
He was born October 27, 1974 in Muncie, the son of Russell and Fay (Butcher) Swift. He married Rachel Ingle on June 10, 1995, and she survives.
Other survivors include his parents of Shelbyville; son, Ethan Swift of Edinburgh; daughter, Piper Swift of Edinburgh; brothers, Jason Swift and wife, Shelley, of Indianapolis and Doug Swift and wife, Jenn, of Shelbyville; maternal grandfather, R. D. Butcher of Shelbyville; paternal grandfather, Francis Swift of Edinburgh; mother-in-law, Jo Lister of Edinburgh; father-in-law, Sam Ingle and wife, Debbie, of Greenwood; and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Fay (Phifer) Butcher; and paternal grandmother, Carol (Moore) Swift.
Josh was a lifelong resident of Shelby County.
He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1993.
Josh was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church and the American Legion Post No. 233.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Josh worked as a production supervisor at Sacoma in Edinburgh.
He loved spending time with his family and coaching his children in many athletic events.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Mount Auburn Christian Church, 5878 West 900 South in Edinburgh.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Brian Scott officiating.
Interment will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Shelby County.
