Judith A. "Judy" Gilbert, 78, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Major Hospital.
Born December 16, 1932, in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Brown) Osborne. She married James M. "Jim" Gilbert on November 11, 1976, and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2011.
Survivors include her son, Byron Richard Arbuckle of Shelbyville; daughter, Michelle (husband, Larry) Watson of Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada; step-son, Jake Gilbert of Louisville, Kentucky; step-daughters, Leslie Magsig of Orlando, Florida and Meg (husband, Paul) Whiteside of Geneva, Illinois; grandchildren, Lindsey Watson, Grant Watson, Graydon Watson, Anthony Gilbert, Megan Gilbert, Ryan Mark, Emily Whiteside and Joseph Whiteside and great-grandchildren, Austin Gilbert and Rylan Mark.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Richard Osborne.
Mrs. Gilbert was a lifelong resident of Shelbyville.
She retired in 1998 from the State of Indiana Special Education Department, after 25 years of service. She was also the former owner of Arbuckle-Bushfield Burial Vaults.
Mrs. Gilbert was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She loved her grandchildren, family and friends, and she enjoyed going out to dinner, shopping, golfing, watching the COLTS and vacationing in Ontario.
A gathering of friends will be from 1 to 2 pm, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with a memorial service at 2 pm.
Interment will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
