Judith Holland Grigsby, 85, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born September 19, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of Loren and Lucille Holland Harcourt. She married Clifford E. Grigsby on December 23, 1945, and he survives.
Other survivors include her daughter, Sally (husband, Michael) Vaught of Shelbyville; grandson, Bennett (wife, Toni) Vaught of Shelbyville; and granddaughter, Kate Vaught.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Grigsby had been a teacher and counselor working at Shelbyville, Morristown, New Albany and New Castle schools, retiring in 1987.
She had been a leader in Shelbyville Girls Club and 4-H clubs.
Mrs. Grigsby graduated from Milroy High School in 1942, Purdue University in 1945, with a bachelor's degree, and received a master's degree from Butler in 1965.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Order of Eastern Star, P.E.O., Tri Kappa, Purduettes, Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Association of Univeristy Women.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Evie Stuard officiating.
Interment will be in Moscow Cemetery.
