Judy Kay Soller (nee. Grant), 76, Cedar Point, North Carolina, passed away on May 17, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on July 20, 1939 in Shelbyville, IN. to Gordon K. and Mae L. Grant.
She grew up in the Walkerville neighborhood and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1957.
She worked for Indiana Bell in Indianapolis prior to her marriage in 1962 to Stephen William Soller, also of Shelbyville. She accompanied her husband to Germany while he served in the US Military.
After returning in 1964, she enjoyed the company of many friends and family while active in the Daughters of Isabella at St. Joseph Catholic Church, as a Cub Scout Den Mother, a member of the Moose Lodge, and participated in bowling leagues at the Blue River Lanes.
For nearly 20 years, she was bookkeeper and secretary at Hoosier Plumbing and Heating, Inc.
She returned to Europe with her husband for government service in 1984. While abroad, she toured Europe, Asia, the Middle-East, and visited central Indiana frequently to stay in touch with her family and Class of ’57 friends. She returned to the States permanently in 1998, residing in North Carolina and enjoying RV trips across the country.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen, her two sons, Anthony (Suzanne Staab) of Plainfield, IN and Timothy (Miyako Pastor) of Arlington, VA; and her beloved grandchildren, Nathaniel (Anthony), Megan (Anthony), Sophie (Timothy), and Hugo (Timothy); as well as her sister, Joy Anspaugh of Shelbyville; her cousin, Jay King (Nona Shipporeit) of Manitou Springs, Co.; 22 nieces and nephews; and many other relations and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her cousins, Jack King (Mary Ann) of Collinsville, OK and Jayne McComas Miller (Kenneth) of Phoenix, AZ; and her brother-in-law, David Soller (Nancy).
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
