Judy Lynn Dalton Imel, 67, of Franklin, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.
She was born September 6, 1949, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Dr. Wilson Lee and Betty Lou “Betsy” Crews Dalton.
Judy is survived by her mother of Franklin; son, Bret Adkins and wife, Greta, of Shelbyville; daughter, Alana Adkins and significant other, Scott Fuchs, of Shelbyville; step-daughter, Annaleis Coakley of Indianapolis; brothers, Barton D. Dalton and wife, Barb, of Tacoma, Washington, and Randall L. Dalton of Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kyrsten Lux, Kyle McCreary and wife, Allouri, Aaron Schwarzkopf, Madison Coakley and Derek Harz; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Judy graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1967, and attended St. Francis School of Nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse.
She attended Shelbyville Community Church.
Judy enjoyed being a nurse and taking care of people, before retiring in 2011, she worked for her father in his practice, Especially Kidz and in the emergency room at Major Hospital.
She loved animals.
Judy’s passion in life was to care for others, it made her life complete to know she had helped someone.
She had a heart of gold and loved the time she spent with her family and friends. Judy was known as “Mom” to many of her children’s friends.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
