Karen Nadine (Markley) Ivie, 77, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born November 8, 1937, in Shelby County, the daughter of Maurice and Kathryn (Emerick) Markley. On January 16, 1954, she married Norman Ivie, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2015.
Karen is survived by her brother, Robert Markley and wife, Sue, of Shelbyville; her three boys (nephews), Mark Markley and wife, Margie, and David Markley and wife, Sue, both of Shelbyville and Mike Markley and wife, Stacey, of San Antonio, Texas; nieces and nephews, Mary Lynn Markley-Harrah, Marilyn Markley, Tim Markley, Mickey Markley, Billy Markley and Greg Crouse; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Nancy Kathryn Ivie; and a brother, William “Bill” Markley.
Karen was a member of Little Blue River Baptist Church and the Women’s Auxilary of American Legion Post No. 70.
She formerly worked at L & J Garment Factory from 1959 to 1980, Electro Sound from 1982 to 1991, and retired from Shelbyville Central School with over 10 years of service.
She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her three boys.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County, with Rev. Bob Langdon officiating.
Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
