Karolyn B. McCalip, 73, of Shelbyville, formerly of Bradenton, Florida passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.
Born December 2, 1934, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of James Cregor and Kathryn (Lewellen) Kemper. She married Paul McCalip on May 7, 1954, in Marietta and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1996.
Survivors include a stepson, Ronald (wife, Vickie) McCalip of Fairland; a stepdaughter, Linda Craig of Marion; four stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a sister Cora McMahan of Sumpter, S.C.; brothers, William Kemper of Kokomo and Alan Kemper of Pendleton; 13 nieces and nephews; seven great-nephews; and five great-nieces.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Catherine E. DePrez and Kay Kaster; and a stepgrandchild.
Mrs. McCalip lived in Shelbyville until 1988, when she moved to Bradenton, Fla., and returned in 2001.
She retired from Fort Harrison Finance Center Department of Defense in Indianapolis in 1988.
Mrs. McCalip graduated in 1952 from Shelbyville High School.
She was a member of the Living Lord Lutheran Church in Bradenton, Fla.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Moe officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
