Kathleen F. Ruddick, 89, of Rushville, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born May 21, 1925, in Muncie, the daughter of John Richard and Adlyn G. (Dick) Parcher. She married William A. Ruddick on September 2, 1949, and he preceded her in death on December 22, 1991.
Kathleen is survived by her sister, Marcella D. Goul of Gulfport, Mississippi; grandchildren, Jodie Lawson and husband, Mike, of Rushville, Ronnie Mays and wife, Debbi, of Edinburgh, John Mays and wife, Tracy, of Flat Rock, Tamara Bowers VonDielingen and husband, Jay, and Christina Thompson and companion, Jason "Hoggy", both of Shelbyville and Shelly Thompson of Indianapolis; 13 great-grandchildren; and sons-in-law, Dallas Sparks of Shelbyville and Ronald Mays of Morgantown.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Carolyn Sparks and Sharon Mays; grandson, William E. Thompson; and a great-granddaughter, Kati May Thompson.
Kathleen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shelbyville and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rushville. She was also a member of Daughters of Isabella St. Rose of Lima Circle No. 79, St. Anne’s Altar Society, Women of the Moose Lodge, the Hospital Guild and USAC (official at Indianapolis 500).
She graduated from Muncie Central in Muncie. Following High School she attended Ball State for one year and received her teaching degree from Marion College.
Kathleen began teaching in 1963 at St. Joseph Catholic School, retiring in 1979. After retiring, she continued to work at St. Joseph in the cafeteria, doing government paperwork and as a cashier.
She loved sports and NASCAR.
Kathleen also leaves behind her cat, Cosmo and the family dog, Joc.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 4:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
