Kathleen L. "Kathy" Morrow, 61, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 after a seven month battle with cancer.
She was born November 22, 1948, in Richmond, she was the daughter of John R. and Florence E. (Pentecost) Hawisher. She married Dale E. Morrow on November 20, 1966, and he survives.
Other survivors are daughter, Jennifer (husband, Jeffrey) Burke of Indianapolis; son, Bradley (wife, Angel) Morrow of LaGrange, Kentucky; granddaughters, Caitlyn and Emily Burke and Carsyn and Sydney Morrow; brother, Michael Hawisher of New Paris, Ohio; sister, Julie (husband, Darrell) Stover of Englewood, Ohio.
She graduated from Centerville High School in 1966. After High School, she attended Indiana University, Earlham College, Ball State, graduating from Franklin College in 1972. She went on to earn her Master's Degree from Ball State in 1977.
She taught at Triton Central and Shelbyville High Schools for over 30 years teaching Spanish, English and ESL, retiring in 2007. While teaching at Shelbyville High School, she served eight years as the girl's golf coach taking her teams to four state championships (1990-1993) and receiving District Coach of the Year honors for 1991 and 1992.
She loved traveling, taking students and adults to Spain eight times. She also traveled to England, Italy, France, Belgium, Scotland, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and has visitated all 50 states. She also loved Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney World and collecting Disney Trading Pins.
She was past president and treasurer of Tri Kappa and a member of Shelbyville Retired Teachers Association.
Her best Christmas was 2009 when she spent Christmas Day at Disney's Magic Kingdom in Orlando with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3 at West Point Cemetery in Liberty, Indiana.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. at the cemetery, with the Reverend David Soper officiating.
