Kenneth B. "Kenny" Foreman

Kenneth B. "Kenny" Foreman, 79, Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010, at his residence. Born June 24, 1931, in Glena, he was the son of Virgil C. and Irene (Akin) Foreman. He married Carolyn O. Hankins on August 7, 1991, and she survives. Other survivors include daughters, Connie K. Medford of Cleburne, Texas, Kendra K. Shuler of LaGrange, Georgia and Ylonda Hallgarth of Shelbyville; sons, Greg (wife, Linda) Hallgarth of Shelbyville and Jason Hallgarth of St. Paul; brother, Don E. Foreman of Walton; granddaughters, Sarah Medford, Amanda Ward, Brandi Hallgarth, Ashlie Hallgarth, Hanna Hallgarth and Haley Hallgarth; grandsons, Colby Medford, Chad Hodgins, Cody Jackson Hallgarth, Jessie Hallgarth, Kyle Hallgarth and Kaleb Hallgarth; and great-grandchildren Raegan, Lily, Lucas, Layla, Phoenix, Zylan, Eli, Alec and Jayse; and special friend, Cricket. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was the former owner of Standard Oil Truck Stop in Taylorsville, and he owned a fuel truck and delivered Standard Oil and sold real estate in Shelbyville for C & S Realty. Mr. Foreman was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War in personnel from 1952 to 1956. He was a member of the Pleasantview Baptist Church in Greensburg, Kentucky, where he was baptized 69 years ago, Shelby Masonic Lodge, Forty and Eight Club, Eagles and Moose. He was a vested member of the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis; an associate member of Knights of Columbus in Shelbyville; lifetime member and past commander (2006 to 2007) of Shelbyville American Legion; veterans of Foreign Wars in Columbus; and Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks No. 1307 in Rushville. Mr. Foreman was a Kentucky Colonel, where he was an honorable member. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1950, where he played basketball, receiving the Rouse-Wortman Award his senior year. He ran track, holding the high hurdle record for more than 30 years at the county track meet. Mr. Foreman loved Indiana University basketball and Bobby Knight. Visitation is from 3 to 7 pm Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Foreman officiating. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 70, 1125 S. Miller Avenue, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
