Kenneth "Clyde" Wintin, 92 of Manilla passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007, at Major Hospital.
Born August 20, 1915, in Manilla, he was the son of Shirley and Helenia Maude (Carmony) Wintin. He married Virginia S. Snyder on May 14, 1960, and she preceded him in death on February 8, 1987.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chester Scott Wintin; and sister, Edna Rudicel.
Mr. Wintin retired as a serviceman from Stokley Van Camp, now known as Quaker Oats, in Indianapolis. He previously had been a serviceman at Carter and McWilliams International Harvester dealership in Shelbyville and Morristown and at Jim Dean International Harvester dealership in Rushville; and employed at D. E. Carmony Funeral Home.
He was a U.S. Army Medical Corp. veteran, and was the first to be deployed after the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
Mr. Wintin was a member of Zion United Church of Christ; Morristown Masonic Lodge No. 193, where he was a past master; Shelbyville York Rite; Scottish Rite NMJ Valley of Indianapolis; Morristown Order of Eastern Star No. 316; Marvin L. Isley York Rite College No. 129; William Hacker Lodge No. 759; Blue River Valley Antique Power Association; Shelbyville Antique Tractor Club; Hoosier Model T. Club; Model A. Club in Columbus; Pioneer Engineer Club in Rushville; and White River Club in Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Mary Lundgren officiating.
Burial will be in Manilla Cemetery in Manilla, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.
