Kenneth Richard Duncan, 87, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
He was born June 11, 1927, in Whiteland, the son of Erasmus and Elsie (Smithey) Duncan. He married Zoe Cooper on February 5, 1991, and she preceded him in death in December of 2007.
Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Shirley Tweedy and husband, James and Brenda Duncan, both of Indianapolis; son, Kenneth Duncan II and wife, Donanna, of Whiteland; stepsons, Kevin Scripture of Richmond and Jeff Scripture of Indianapolis; stepdaughter, Dena Scripture of Connersville; grandchildren, Michele, Melinda, Nicole and Jared; stepgrandchildren, Kyle, Eric, Max, Molly and Andy; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold Duncan, O. Vern Duncan, Raymond Duncan and Denzil Duncan and stepgrandson, Matthew Jacobs.
Kenneth attended Whiteland High School, where he played basketball and is on the Wall of Fame.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Kenneth was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was formerly a truck driver for Overland Freight Lines in Indianapolis, C.R. England and 88 Enterprise, both in Salt Lake City, Utah and Cowley Trucking in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. After retirement in 1988, he worked part-time for Coer’s Contruction in New Palestine.
Kenneth also leaves behind his dog, Peaches.
Private family services will be conducted.
Interment will be at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
Services entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
