Kenneth Wayne "Kenny" Gahimer

Kenneth Wayne Gahimer, 65, of Manilla, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 9, 1948, in Rush County, the son of Norman K. and Rosemary Christina (Thomas) Gahimer. Kenny is survived by his father, Norman K. Gahimer and wife, Hilda of Franklin; son, Gary Gahimer of Shelbyville; daughters, Christina Smothers and husband, Rick, and Jennifer Wainscott and husband, Chris, both of Manilla; brothers, Norm T. Gahimer and wife, Kathy and Jerry L. Gahimer and wife, Kim, both of Shelbyville and Phil L. Gahimer and wife, Doretta of Manilla; sister, Karen Williams and husband, Garrick of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Kerigan Dawn Smothers, Caymen Asher Smothers, Sophia Rosemarie Wainscott, Sean Matthew Wainscott, Henry Alexandrew Wainscott and Edith Ann Wainscott; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother; brother, Jeffrey Allen Gahimer; and twin grandsons, Camden Alexander Smothers and Cayden Andrew Smothers. Kenny graduated from Manilla High School in 1966. He was a member of Grace Wesleyan Church in Shelbyville. Kenny was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam. He retired from Sears Automotive Center in 2008, with over 40 years of service. Kenny loved the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the Smokey Mountains. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Grace Wesleyan Church, 56 E. Franklin St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Dr. John D. Hundley officiating. Interment will be at Zion Cemetery in Shelby County. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Wesleyan Church.
