Kirk Hoefener

Kirk Hoefener, 62, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. He was born August 4, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Walter H. and Margaret M. “Peg” Hoefener. Kirk is survived by his mother of Shelbyville; son, Taylor Hoefener of Jacksonville, Florida; brothers, Judson D. Hoefener and Clay D. Hoefener, both of Shelbyville; and nephews, Grant, Dillon and Wyatt. He was preceded in death by his father, brother, Brady A. Hoefener; and sister, Lisa Marie Hoefener. Kirk graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1970 and received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in business administration. He formerly managed steel plants in Fort Wayne, New Orleans and Jacksonville, retiring in 2014. Kirk enjoyed golfing, boating and football. A gathering of friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, with Father Aaron Pfaff officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
