Kylene Beth "Ky" Shaffer Gaskin

Kylene Beth “Ky” Shaffer Gaskin, 55, of Fairland, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. She was born July 11, 1961, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Kenneth John and Elizabeth Elyse (Ridgeway) Shaffer. She is survived by husband, Bobby Darrell Gaskin and son, Rocky Darrell Gaskin of Fairland. Ky is also survived by her mother of Akron; sister, Donna Carr-Roberts and husband, Gary Raymond Roberts, of Peoria Heights, Illinois; brother, Gary Wayne Shaffer and wife, Vida Kae Shaffer, of Akron, Ohio; niece, Shelly Kendrick and husband, Cory, of Akron; great-niece, Abigail Kendrick; and great-nephew, Colin Kendrick. She was preceded in death by her father; and nephew, Jonathan Shaffer. Ky graduated from Kenmore High School in Akron in 1979, and attended Youngstown State. She attended Fairland Christian Church, enjoyed needlepoint and loved caring for all kinds of animals, including her cat Alfred who she leaves behind. Kylene was an amazing young woman. Everyone who met her loved her. She was so very caring with the sweetest soul. Even when she was in pain, she tried hard to hide it because she was afraid that would worry the people she loved. She was an amazing needlepointer and creative writer. and a fun person to be with. We will never forget the smile on her face every time she talked about her son. We are lucky to have had her in our lives. We always thought she was an Angel and now she has finally earned her wings. Private family services will be observed. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
