L. Jean Conway, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born March 6, 1926, in Shelbyville, Indiana, she was the daughter of Oral E. and Lelia M. (Goins) McIntyre. She married Norman D. Conway on December 1, 1944, and he preceded her in death on April 30, 1988.
Survivors include her sons, David L. (wife, Susan) Conway of Columbus, Ronnie Joe (wife, Lynn) Conway, Timothy (wife, Janice) Conway and Danny R. (wife, Terri) Conway, all of Shelbyville; daughter, Linda D. Conway of Shelbyville; brothers, Norman (wife, Solange) McIntyre of Disputanta, Virginia, Larry (wife, Vicky) McIntyre of Orlando, Florida, Harold (wife, Jeannette) McIntyre of Columbus, Indiana and Jerry Bob (wife, Dawn) McIntyre of Greensburg; sisters, Marilyn McAhren of San Diego, California, Sharon (husband, Robert) Brown of Greensburg, Rosemary Colvin of North Vernon and Brenda (husband, Ed) Dwenger of Greensburg and Rita Simmonds of Adams, Indiana; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren with great-grandson, Jacob, on the way and many others who called her grandma or Gigi.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Warren McIntyre, Kenneth McIntyre and Michael McIntyre.
Mrs. Conway was formerly employed by Admiral Corporation from 1945 to 1961 and at KCL from 1963 to 1968.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
In later years, Mrs. Conway enjoyed her time at Ashford Place playing cards, bingo and being on the go.
Most of all she loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Dan McCollough officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
