Lance Dale Batton

Lance Dale Batton, 93, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, January 21, 2019 at Walker Place in Shelbyville. He was born August 20, 1925, in Shelby County, the son of William and Fern (Gray) Batton. On February 10, 1945, he married Lois Irene Bass, and she preceded him in death on January 12, 2018. Lance is survived by his five sons, Bruce Batton and wife, Wanda, of Shelbyville, Roger Batton and wife, Vickie, of Morristown, Philip Batton and wife, Michelle, of Shelbyville, Bill Batton and wife, Deena, of Greenfield, and Brian Batton and wife, Gina, of Shelbyville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to Lois, Lance was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lenora Kaster. Lance graduated from Fairland High School in 1943. He was a lifelong farmer in the Morristown Freeport area. Lance enjoyed sports. He and Lois were avid fans of Morristown Yellow Jackets, never missing an event in which their sons participated and rarely missing those of their grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing. Private family graveside services will be observed. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
