Larry Douglas Tucker, 82, of Manilla, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Waldron Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waldron.
He was born November 29, 1933 in Shelby County, the son of Loyd D. and Edith Irene (Nichols) Tucker. He married Ruth Tucker, and she preceded him in death.
Larry is survived by his sister, Martha Branson and husband, Bill, of Shelbyville; niece, Valerie Jean Tillison and husband, Doug, of Manilla, Julia Piercy and husband, Paul, and Jennifer Komark; great nephews, Tyler Tillison and wife, Nicole, Jacob Tillison, Gus Komarek and Joshua Cappelow; great-niece, Crystal Thomas; great-great-nieces and nephews, Adalee, London, Aliyah, Blake and one on the way; first cousins, Wayne Tucker and wife, Karen, Bill Tucker and Pat Graves; and longtime family friend, Camilla Britt and her family.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a son, David Douglas Tucker.
Larry graduated from Arlington High School in Rush County in 1952.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Fort Myers, Florida.
Larry was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany.
He worked for Diamond Lumber in North Fort Myers, Florida, retiring in 1998.
Larry was a lifetime member of the Hank Williams Sr. fan club and loved bluegrass music.
Private graveside services will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, with Pastor Brandon Sutton officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the local military committee.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
