Larry Eldwood Deaton, Sr., 80, of Shelbyville, formerly of Morristown and Nashville, Tennessee passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Heritage House Convalescent Center in Shelbyville. Born January 16, 1932, in Whitebluff, Tennessee, he was the son of Haynie and Lucille (Binkley) Deaton. Survivors include his son, Larry E. (wife, Rhonda) Deaton, Jr. of Greenfield; daughter, Christina A. ?Tina? (husband, Jeff) Stangenberg of Hendersonville, Tenn.; sister, Patsy (husband, Howard) Davis of Donelson, Tenn; brother, Jerry (wife, Linda) Deaton of Paducah, Kentucky; ; and sister-in-law, Guyonne Deaton of Greenfield; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacqueline, Jill, (husband, Jordan), and Joshua (wife, Adriana); and great-grandchildren, Paige, Taylor, Xander, Alivia and Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William Deaton. Mr. Deaton was formerly a self-employed painting contractor, owning Deaton Painting and Decorating. He retired in 1997. He was a member and business agent for the Painter?s Union in Tampa, Florida. Mr. Deaton enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, reading and doing yard work. Private family services will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer?s Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240. Services were entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
