Larry H. Drake

Larry H. Drake, 74, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital and Health Center in Indianapolis. Born September 9, 1936 in Flat Rock, he was the son of Perry and Mary (Swinford) Drake. He married O. Jean Shaw on August 25, 1962, and she survives. Other survivors include his sons, Brent (wife, Deena) Drake and David (wife, Charlotte) Drake, both of Shelbyville; granddaughters, Maria (husband, Craig) Beasley, Danyell (husband, Keith) Bevington and Marena Drake; grandsons, Toby Huntsman, David Drake and Tyler Drake; and great-grandchildren, Emilie Beasley, Gracie Beasley, Heather Bevington and Richard Bevington. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Martha Wimmer. Mr. Drake was a lifelong Shelbyville resident and graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1954. He was an electrician and the former owner of Drake's Electric; Drake's Supply; Drake's Warehouse; People's Heating and Cooling; 4-D Electric in Rushville, Greensburg and Shelbyville; and Lighting by 4-D in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Drake was a past member of Rotary International, Kiwanis and the Moose and Eagles lodges. He enjoyed boating and camping. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm, Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 2 pm, Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Patterson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charities.
