LaVone F. Dake

LaVone F. Dake, 72, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at her home. Born Aug. 21, 1933, in Noble Township, she was the daughter of the late George C. and Margaret (Johnson) Underwood. She married Wendell M. Dake on March 7, 1953, and he survives. Other survivors include one son, Jeff (wife, Cathy) Dake of Arlington; two daughters, Jean (husband, Bill) Overpeck of Avon and Julie (husband, Donnie) McGugan of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren, Jesse Dake, Kyle Dake, Casey Dake, Andy Dake, Joel Overpeck, Chris Overpeck, Kelsey Overpeck, Dawn McGugan and Cameron McGugan; and one great-grandchild, Caleb Overpeck. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence Underwood, Clarence Underwood, George Underwood and one infant; three sisters, Viola Hammond, Virginia Blades and Marjorie Gaw. Mrs. Dake owned and operated the former Dakerey for 25 years, retiring in March of 2005. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor?s choice of charities.
