Lawrence C. McNamara, 78, of Indianapolis, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at Community Hospital South, in Indianapolis.
Born Sept. 14, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of the late Fred G. and Anne (Harrett) McNamara. He married Sally Buell on July 3, 1948, and she preceded him in death on July 30, 1985. He married Virginia Howald on Nov. 11, 1989, and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Dean McNamara of Shelbyville; one daughter, Lola Scott of Shelbyville; two stepdaughters, Karen Hilton of Geist and Toni Randolph of Morgantown; two stepsons, Steve Harrigan of Greenwood and Hugh Harrigan of Indianapolis; one brother, James McNamara of Charlottesville, N.C.; one sister, Betty LeCler of St. Pete, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by two sons, Dale McNamara and an infant; and one granddaughter, Mary Ellen Britt.
Mr. McNamara lived in Shelbyville from 1948 to 1987.
He had been employed at Indiana Bell from 1967 to 1982, retiring in 1982. He previously had been employed at Western Electric Co. from 1946 to 1967.
Mr. McNamara was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He graduated from high school in Detroit, Mich.
Mr. McNamara was a member of Moose Lodge No. 2118, Telephone Pioneers of America and West Street United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Forest Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Randall Slavans officiating.
