Lawrence G. Williams

May 30, 1921 — September 29, 2008

Lawrence Grant Williams, 87, went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2008. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lee Cox Williams. They shared their lifetime of love in the community of Waldron, Indiana. He was a member, former deacon and choir member of the Waldron Baptist Church. He was a World War II veteran and a retiree of Allison's Division of General Motors, Indianapolis. He leaves behind two children, son, Dr. Jack Williams and wife Carole of Greenwood, Indiana and daughter Peggy Williams and husband Ira of Mount Nebo, West Virginia. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Lonna Weaver of Waldron, Amie Williams of Junipter, Florida, Abby Williams of Greenwood, Jeff Fralich of Marion, North Carolina and Susan Board of Summersville, West Virginia; four great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister. Others who preceded hin in death are six sisters. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. Funeral services will be at 11 am Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Coates officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Waldron Baptist Church. 1 John 5:13--These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
