Leah F. Goforth

Leah Florine "Sally" Goforth, 89, of Shelbyville died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Heritage House Convalescent Center. Born Jan. 8, 1918, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Lee and Myrla (Gunning) Gardner. She married Edward Goforth on Dec. 25, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1976. Survivors include her daughters, Judy Pinkerton of Manilla and Sandra (husband, Ray) Blessing of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, Dan Goforth of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Ron Blessing, Vicki Malas, Jason Pinkerton and Kristy Wilson; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wade Gardner. Mrs. Goforth was a homemaker and had been a custodian at Manilla Elementary School for 13 years. She graduated from Manilla High School in 1936. Mrs. Goforth was a member of Big Flat Rock Christian Church. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Broadway Chapel, 232 W. Broadway St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Becky Gibbons officiating. Interment will be in Manilla Cemetery in Manilla.
