The Rev. Lee Oren Listenberger, 79, of Boggstown died Monday, January 5, 2009 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.
Born August 5, 1929, in Boggstown, he was the son of Albert Jay and Goldie Emelia (Gahimer) Listenberger. He married Roberta Rosemary Bailey on September 15, 1951, and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Sandra Kay (husband, Tom) Beaty of Muncie, Sheila Gay Moulton of Franklin and Sharla Fay (husband, George) Silbernagel of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother, the Rev. Lowell Henry Listenberger of Franklin; and grandchildre, Leah Rae Moulton of Franklin, Stephan Lee (wife, Kari) Moulton of Bradley, Illinois, Benjamin Thomas Beaty and Elizabeth Marie Beaty, both of Muncie, Andrew Isaac Silbernagel, Josiah Bailey Silbernagel, Christina Joy Silbernagel and Faith Noelle Silbernagel, all of Colorado Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence Esten Listenberger, Lelan Albert Listenberger and Leslie Ray Listenberger; and sister, Louise Emelia Listenberger.
The Rev. Listenberger became an ordained minister in 1972 and was the minister of Brooklyn Church of the Nazarene from 1973 until retiring in 1995. He also was employeed at the Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison from 1961 until retiring in 1989.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of SCARWAF and also served in the Indiana Army National Guard from 1948 to 1954.
The Rev. Listenberger graduated from Boggstown High School in 1958 and Columbus Business College in 1960, with a degree in accounting.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Clermont, AARP and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
The Rev. Listenberger enjoyed wintering in Lakeland, Florida at the Florida Holiness Campgrounds.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes, Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at noon at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2315 S. Riley Highway, with the Revs. Bruce Bowlin and Dr. Kenneth Jewell officiating.
Interment will be in Center Cemetery.
